Spring Signing Ceremony
Posted 04/14/2021 10:15AM

Four Jesuit High School seniors signed National Letters of Intent to play collegiate athletics at the school of their choice on Wednesday morning (April 14) in the Tiger Palace.

Family, friends, and coaches attended the special event. Jesuit president Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J. and athletic director Terry Rupp '84 first addressed the signees, encouraging them to take what they've learned at Jesuit with them to college, and to continue to strive for excellence in their lives as 'Men for Others.' The four seniors who signed Wednesday were:

·        Todd Bowles – Football – Rutgers University

·        Jamie Cimino – Soccer – West Virginia Wesleyan

·        Gavin Sissel – Baseball – St. Petersburg College

·        Kris Sosnowski– Baseball – Univ. of Central Florida

Bowles is a linebacker/safety who has helped Jesuit football and head coach Matt Thompson to back-to-back outstanding seasons in 2019 and 2020. The Tigers reached the State Semifinal both years and had a combined record of 25-4, including 14-1 this season. Bowles joins former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano, who is entering his second season in his second stint as head coach at Rutgers, which plays in the Big Ten Conference.

Cimino was part of Jesuit soccer's State Championship run in 2019-20 under head coach Eric Sims '95, and this season's State runner-up squad. Both years Jesuit was ranked in the Top 10 nationally by multiple media outlets and had a combined record of 41-5-4. Cimino had 3 goals and 6 assists in 2020-21 as Jesuit went 17-2-2, dropping the 5A State title game in overtime to Miami Belen Jesuit.

Sissel and Sosnowski are both right-handed pitchers who have been a part of a historic run of success for Jesuit baseball under head coach Miguel Menendez. In 2019 the Tigers captured the program's 5th State title. In 2020, Jesuit was 9-0 and ranked No. 1 nationally when the season was cut short by COVID-19. This season, Sissel and Sosnowski have helped the Tigers to a Saladino Tournament championship, 19-1 record, and Top 5 national ranking by multiple media outlets. Sosnowski, who earned All-Saladino Tournament recognition and has allowed just one earned run in 23 innings, joins Jesuit teammates Dominic Castellano '21 and Cole Russo '21 as a UCF baseball signee.

This was the fourth of four athletic signing ceremonies at Jesuit this school year. Each ceremony takes place on the first day of the four college signing periods. Every year, between 15 and 30 Jesuit student-athletes sign to participate in college athletics.
