March for Life

The Jesuit High School Pro-Life Club traveled to Washington, D.C. for four days last week, a trip centered around participation in the 42nd annual March for Life on Thursday (Jan. 22).

The 44 students and six chaperones, led by Jesuit president Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J., marched alongside more than a half-million others in opposition to the 1973 Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion.

As part of the largest pro-life demonstration in the world, they walked from the National Mall to the steps of the Supreme Court on the 42nd anniversary of the landmark court ruling. The theme of this year’s march was Every Life is a Gift.

In addition to the March for Life, the Jesuit contingent, which departed early on Jan. 21 and returned late on Jan. 24, visited Georgetown University, The National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Gonzaga College High School, Mount Vernon, and Historic Old Baltimore.
