The Jesuit High School athletic program continues to excel academically, earning 1st place among all Class 6A boys programs in the FHSAA's Academic Team Champion (ATC) standings in 2017-18.

The Tigers, with 71 points in the ATC scoring system (which ranks team GPA within each sport), topped 6A runners-up Southwest Ranches Archbishop McCarthy, which had 62 points among its boys sports programs. (Archbishop McCarthy was the 6A winner for boys and girls sports programs combined.)

It marks the third straight year Jesuit athletics has been No. 1 academically. In 2016-17, the Tigers' 71 points outdistanced the boys programs at 6A runners-up Orlando Bishop Moore (46) and Archbishop McCarthy (44). In 2015-16, when classified as 5A, Jesuit also finished first, by 30 points over Gainesville Eastside's boys programs, 73-43.

Jesuit athletics was led academically this school year by six teams that finished 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their respective sports and classifications. Placing 1st were basketball (head coach Neal Goldman), football (head coach Matt Thompson), and soccer (head coach Eric Sims '95). It marks the second straight year basketball, football, and soccer took top honors, though soccer was recognized as finishing second in 2016-17 by a tiebreaker procedure.

Finishing in 2nd place academically in 2017-18 was Jesuit's State Championship swimming team (head coach Bill Shaffer), and earning 3rd place were wrestling (head coach Sal Basile) and track & field (head coach Andy Wood '92).

Among Jesuit's 12 sports programs, cross country (head coach Jim Ranieri) finished with the best unweighted team GPA, edging out soccer 3.673 to 3.666, with swimming in 3rd (3.609), track & field in 4th (3.541), and golf in 5th (3.525 - head coach Nico Hohman '07).

The FHSAA calculates ATC using the cumulative grade point average of each sports team. The team GPA is then ranked against the other programs in the same classification in that sport. First place merits 10 points, 2nd place is worth 9, 3rd place 8, and so on down to 1 point for 10th.

Jesuit annually finishes among the very best boys sports programs in the FHSAA both academically and athletically, ranking at the top of both the ATC and the All-Sports Award standings from the FHSAA. In 2015-16, Jesuit finished 1st in its class in both the ATC and All-Sports Award rankings, and in 2016-17 Jesuit was 1st and 2nd, respectively, in its classification. For years, Jesuit has topped the FHSAA's All-Sports Standings among all local schools, and in 2013-14 Jesuit ranked No. 1 among all schools in Florida in all classifications. The All-Sports Award rankings for 2017-18 are expected to be released in June.
