Basketball
The Jesuit basketball program features Varsity, JV, and Freshman teams and a decades-long tradition of hardwood success, including three State Championships: 1950 (the first Catholic school to win a state title), 1984, and 2013.
Head coach Neal Goldman enters his 38th season in 2024-25 with a career record of 717-320 and 16 District titles. Last season, 2023-24, the Tigers went 22-8, their 10th consecutive 20-win season. Jesuit captured the District title in remarkable fashion, outscoring eventual State runner-up Blake 19-3 in the 4th quarter to overcome a 41-27 deficit and win 46-44 at Blake. Do-it-all guards Nate Boakye '24 (Belmont Abbey) and Chris Moliere '24 (Western Kentucky) finished 1-2 on the Tigers in scoring, FG percentage, assists, and steals.
Jesuit reached the State Tournament in 2021, finishing 25-5 while capturing the Region Championship with three straight road wins. In the State Semifinal, the Tigers played into overtime vs. the eventual State Champions, Pembroke Pines Charter, before succumbing in an epic game. It marked the 11th time Jesuit had captured the Region title to advance to the Final Four/State Tournament, following 1941, '44, '46, '50, '76, '77, '84, '85, '13, and '16 (see below information about each Jesuit Final Four and State Championship team).
The 2012-13 Tigers are considered by many to be the greatest boys basketball team in Tampa Bay-area history. They won 30 games by 10 or more points and were unbeaten against Florida competition en route to finishing 31-1 as State Champions. That team was honored in December 2022 at the inaugural Cookie Garcia Jesuit Invitational, during the 10th anniversary season of its championship.
Jesuit basketball also continues to excel in the classroom, finishing in the Top 10 in the FHSAA's Academic Team Champion standings annually, including 1st place honors in 2018 and 2nd place in 2019 and 2020.
Top returning players for the Tigers in 2024-25 include Morty Hanlon '25, Carter Reins '25, Ayden Hewitt '25, Tyler Caouette '26, Damian Ross '26, and Dylan Flach '26.
