Basketball

The Jesuit basketball program features Varsity, JV, and Freshman teams and a decades-long tradition of hardwood success, including three state championships, in 1950 (the first Catholic school to win a state title), 1984, and 2013. The 2012-13 team is considered perhaps the greatest in Tampa Bay-area history, having won 30 games by 10 or more points and going unbeaten against Florida competition en route to finishing 31-1 as State Champions. That team was honored in December 2022 at the inaugural Cookie Garcia Jesuit Invitational, during the 10th anniversary season of its championship

Head coach Neal Goldman enters his 37th season in 2023-24 with a career record of 695-312 and 15 District titles. Last season, 2022-23, the Tigers went 23-7 – their 9th consecutive 20-win season – as Nate Boakye '24 had a breakout season, leading the Tigers with 6.8 rpg, 4.8 apg, and 4.2 spg while scoring nearly 12 points per game. Jesuit came up a game short of its 4th trip in 10 years to the State Tournament, dropping the Region Final at Orlando Jones, 72-62

In the 2020-21 season, Jesuit reached the State Semifinal, finishing 25-5 while capturing the Region Championship with three straight road wins. In the 2021 State Semifinal, the Tigers played into overtime vs. the eventual State champions, Pembroke Pines Charter, before succumbing in an epic game. It marked the 11th time Jesuit had captured the Region title to advance to the Final Four in the State Tournament, following 1941, '44, '46, '50, '76, '77, '84, '85, '13, and '16. Jesuit basketball also continues to excel in the classroom, finishing in the Top 10 in the FHSAA's Academic Team Champion standings annually, including 1st place honors in 2018 and 2nd place in 2019 and 2020!
