College Counseling

Jesuit's College Counselors are assigned to students alphabetically (A-F, G-M, and N-Z) and begin working with students in the latter half of 11th grade by introducing the Junior Checklist, a structured series of tasks housed in Maia Learning that guides students through the initial stages of the college placement process. In the spring semester, College Counselors deliver classroom presentations to explain each task in detail, providing ongoing support to ensure students make meaningful progress. In addition, College Counselors conduct family conferences during the Spring semester to ensure consistency in guidance. The primary objective is for students to complete most of their application components prior to entering 12th grade.

In senior year, students are introduced to the Senior Checklist, which outlines key tasks related to the application process, strategic planning, and scholarship opportunities, including Bright Futures. College Counselors again provide classroom instruction during the fall semester, offering step-by-step guidance and individual support. The overarching goal is to ensure students meet Jesuit’s internal deadlines and are well-positioned for success throughout the college application journey.
