Winter Signing Ceremony

Winter Signing Ceremony

Jesuit High School athletic standouts Thomas Knipe '19 (soccer) and Jaden Pask '19 (football) signed with Sewanee University and Davidson College, respectively, at a special ceremony Wednesday (Feb. 6) for the traditional Winter Signing Ceremony.

Dozens of family, friends, coaches, and media were on hand for the special event in the President's Board Room. Jesuit president Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J. and athletic director Terry Rupp '84 first addressed the signees, encouraging them to continue to strive for excellence on the field and in the classroom at Jesuit and in college. Then Rupp gave the instruction, and they signed their National Letter of Intent.

Pask, an outside linebacker for Jesuit but likely a safety at Davidson, had a spectacular season in leading the Tigers to a 12-2 record this fall and State Semifinal appearance. He finished with 116 tackles (25 for loss), 6 sacks, 2 punt blocks, 2 forced fumbles and an interception.

Pask was named 1st-Team All-Area by every local media outlet and also earned county Defensive Player of the Year recognition. The Tigers have gone 43-9 during his four years, from 2015-18 under head coach Matt Thompson, with three Region Championships and a trio of State Semifinal appearances.

Knipe has been the backbone of a phenomenal Jesuit soccer defense. In two seasons as the starting goalkeeper, Knipe has recorded 27 shutouts in 44 games with a 0.45 goals against average. In that time, Jesuit has compiled a phenomenal 47-4 record under head coach Eric Sims.

Last week, Knipe recorded a shutout vs. Jefferson as Jesuit won its 33rd District title in the past 35 seasons. The Tigers begin the Region Tournament today (Feb. 6) vs. Gulfport Boca Ciega.

This was the third of four college signing ceremonies scheduled at Jesuit this school year. The final one will take place April 17. Each year, 20-25 Jesuit student-athletes sign to participate in college athletics.
