Winter Signing Ceremony

Winter Signing Ceremony

Six Jesuit seniors in three sports signed with the college of their choice during a special early morning ceremony in the Tiger Palace on February 1, the first day of the Winter Signing Period.

The group of six consisted of three football players, Andre Gilbert (Navy), Wesley Shaw (Army) and Houston Weathers (Univ. of Chicago); two soccer players, Will Gray (John Carroll Univ.) and Eric Stanley (Lake Erie College); and swimmer Liam Schindler (Loyola Maryland).

All six were part of athletic programs that captured a State Championship during their time at Jesuit. Schindler also claimed five individual gold medals at State as part of title-winning swimming relays.

Shaw and Gilbert, who signed with the rival military academies, were Jesuit football's two Heart of the Tiger recipients this past football season as the Most Valuable Teammate on offense (Shaw) and defense (Gilbert).

This marked the third of four Signing Day ceremonies at Jesuit this school year, with the last one slated for April 12. Thus far, 21 seniors have signed to play college athletics. Each year some 20-30 Jesuit student-athletes sign to play in college.
