Winter Signing Ceremony

Jesuit High School student-athletes, Zack Quilty '16 (football, Bucknell) and Trevor Brown '16 (soccer, University of Tampa) signed with the colleges of their choice Wednesday (Feb. 3) at an early morning signing ceremony in the President's Board Room on campus.
Family, friends, and coaches filled the room as Jesuit president Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J., and athletic director Terry Rupp ’84 offered their congratulations. They also encouraged Quilty and Brown to continue striving, and to be leaders among their peers, for the remainder of their high school careers and into college.

Brown, a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at defensive midfield for the Tigers, has helped Jesuit to a 22-4-1 record this season and its third consecutive berth in the Region Final (the Tigers travel to Merritt Island on Friday). The previous two seasons, Jesuit was a combined 37-8-5.
“Trevor has been a constant in the Jesuit line-up for the past three years at one of the toughest positions on the field,” said Jesuit soccer coach Eric Sims ’95. “His ability to switch the field and break pressure is among the best I have seen from a high school player. UT is getting a good one!”
Quilty, a defensive end/outside linebacker, emerged as one of the Tampa Bay area’s top football players this fall while leading Jesuit to a historic season, including the first 13-0 start in school history and fifth State Semifinal berth. The Tigers allowed just nine points a game, and Quilty, despite missing nearly two games with injury, racked up 96 tackles, 13 sacks, 4 blocked punts and 2 blocked kicks. He was named 1st-team All-County by the Tampa Bay Times and Big County Preps, and 3rd-team All-State in Class 5A.
This was the second of three college signing ceremonies scheduled at Jesuit for the 2015-16 school year. The third will take place in April. About 20 Jesuit student-athletes sign Letters of Intent to participate in college athletics each year.
