Winter College Signing
Jesuit athletics celebrated the Winter Signing Ceremony on Wednesday (Feb. 5), the third of four signing ceremonies this school year.
Four student-athletes in two sports signed with the college of their choice in the Antinori Center for the Arts to continue their academic and athletic careers after graduation in May.
Before Convocation inside the Shembekar Auditorium, Jesuit's communications director, Pete Young, introduced the quartet, and the principal/interim president Mike Scicchitano '01 and athletic director Terry Rupp '84 addressed the signees, with Rupp giving the instruction to put pen to paper to make it official. (Click here for video of the signing ceremony.)
Wednesday's signees:
- Aidan Garrity – wrestling – Wisconsin-La Crosse
- Draven McCall – wrestling – Army West Point
- Alex Nocco – football – Clemson
- Tucker Witte – football – The Citadel
McCall will be joining Braden Basile '22 in the Army West Point wrestling program. McCall captured the individual State title last season in helping Jesuit wrestling earn the 2024 State Tournament team title. This season at State Duals, McCall was 3-0 as Jesuit knocked off the No. 1, No. 4, and No. 3 ranked teams in succession to win the State Duals title.
Garrity, who competes at 174 pounds for Jesuit wrestling, helped the Tigers capture the State Duals title two weeks ago with strong performances. He is joining a powerhouse Division III program at UWL that is currently ranked No. 3 nationally with an 11-2 record.
Nocco, one of the nation's top long snappers, joins former Jesuit football standouts Wade Woodaz '22 and Drew Woodaz '24 at Clemson football. Witte also is headed to the Palmetto State – The Citadel is in Charleston, S.C. – after a phenomenal senior season in which he led Jesuit in tackles for loss and sacks. Witte battled cancer his junior year and is now cancer free. He recently was recognized with the prestigious Minahan Award as well as the Community Hero Award from the Tampa Bay Sports Commission. Congratulations to these exemplary student-athletes, and to their coaches, families, and supporters!
