Weber Receives Anne Frank Award
Andrew Weber '26 was listening to another Convocation on another Wednesday morning at Jesuit inside the Chapel of the Holy Cross. He was seated in his pew about 20 rows back, same as always, when something surprising happened.
The woman speaking announced his name.
That woman, Rose Rosen of the Florida Holocaust Museum, was speaking about the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award. Each year, Rosen visits Jesuit during the spring to talk about what the award represents, and to present it to a member of the junior class who is making a difference in the lives of others.
After announcing Weber's name, Rosen listed the myriad ways in which Weber serves others. Last summer, Weber took part in Jesuit's Guatemela Mission Trip to the Valley of the Angels orphanage in Guatemala City, serving the children there for a week. Locally, he has served charitable organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Faith Café, Metropolitan Ministries, the Ryan Nece Foundation, the Young Men’s Service League, Teens United Florida, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Weber is also a pianist who plays at his church and local nursing homes.
In receiving the award, Weber joins a distinguished list of Men for Others from Jesuit, see below the previous recipients in recent years of the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award. Click for video of Wednesday's award presentation.
