Triple Champions

During one magical hour on Saturday night in Kissimmee, the Jesuit High School wrestling program captured three State Championships, the first time ever three Tigers have won State in one season.
First, Adam Lewis ’16 (145 pounds) and Julian Ramirez ’19 (152) electrified the throng of Jesuit supporters with transcendent performances, registering spectacular 1st period pins.
Then Brian Buser ’16 (182) engaged in an epic duel, going to overtime tied at 1-1 with Brandon Nevitt of Dixie Hollins. With both wrestlers exhausted, Buser prevailed by scoring the match’s only takedown, setting off a raucous, emotional celebration and capping an amazing night.
For Lewis, who dominated Brandon’s Noah Ridley, and Ramirez, who made fast work of Lake Gibson’s Christian Febus, it marked their second straight State Titles. Lewis reached the title match all four years of his high school career. Buser, en route to his title, defeated the No. 5, No. 3, and No. 2 State finishers.
Lewis, Ramirez, Buser, and a fourth Jesuit Region champion, Matt Daner (120), led the Tigers to a 3rd place finish at State in the Class 2A team standings under first-year coach Sal Basile.
