Jesuit High School began the 2023-24 school with Picture Day on Wednesday (Aug. 9), Freshman Orientation on Thursday (Aug. 10), and Schola Brevis on Friday (Aug. 11) as all Jesuit students returned to campus for the new school year.
This week, the 868 students comprising the largest enrollment in Jesuit history will enjoy Welcome Week during the first full week of school. Jesuit’s Student Council, led by student body president Jake Killian ’24, will host an array of fun participatory Welcome Week activities during the lunch periods every day this week.
The first all-school Mass of the school Year, the Solemnity of the Assumption, is Tuesday (Aug. 15), and extracurricular activities will ramp up on Thursday (Aug. 17) with the Clubs Open House event. Some 50 Jesuit clubs will be on display that morning as students will have the opportunity to sign up for interests ranging from the Environmental Club and Chess Club to Key Club, Robotics, the African American Club, and Don’t Feed the Artists.
Fall sports practices have been in full swing for two weeks, with bowling, cross country, football, golf, and swimming training hard to prepare for successful seasons. Jesuit will be seeking a three-peat in 2023-24 as the No. 1 boys sports program in all of Florida, all classifications, an honor the Tigers have earned the past two years.
The first athletic competition of the school year is Friday (Aug. 18) in Orlando at Camping World Stadium, where Jesuit football plays its preseason game in the Legacy Classic vs. powerhouse Orlando Jones. Kickoff is at 7:00pm, click here for tickets.
Looking ahead, the Freshman Parent Seminars are Mon. Aug. 21 and Tue. Aug 22, followed by the Sophomore (Aug. 23), Junior (Aug. 28), and Senior (Aug. 29) Parent Seminars.
On Aug. 25, following the home opener football game vs. Wharton, is the Freshman Dance. On Aug. 27 is the President’s Circle Mass, Aug. 31 is Parent Orientation, Sept. 1 is Mass of the Holy Spirit, Oct. 13 is Homecoming, and Oct. 14 is the Homecoming Dance.
