Tampa Bay Champions

Jesuit track & field competed late into the night Friday (April 19) at Berkeley Prep, and after Donovan Terry '24 had rallied the 4x400 relay to victory in the final event, the Tigers had earned their second straight Tampa Bay Private School Championships title!

Terry, Andre Gilbert '23, and Justin Thurman '25 led a 1-2-3 sweep the 100 meters to launch the successful meet. Other winners included Terry in the 400, Gilbert in the long jump (21-5), Devin Stevens '23 in the 800 (1:57.94), Gabe Alvarado-Borjas '23 in the 400 hurdles (58.32), and the 4x100 relay of Angel Ocampo '24, Willy Suarez '24, Gilbert, and Thurman. The 4x100 time of 42.35 established a new meet record as Thurman thundered down the finish to a big victory.

Terry, who has set (and re-set) a trio of records this season in the 100, 200, and as anchor of the 4x100, set a new meet record and stadium record in the 400 meters, finishing in 48.71. On the anchor leg of the 4x400, Terry made up a five-yard gap on the final leg, surging down the homestretch to earn the victory by five yards in a meet-record time of 3:24.88.

Other top finishers included Griffin More '24 (3rd, shot put), Charlie Iler '26 (4th, pole vault), and the 4x800 relay (2nd)

Jesuit finished with 144 points, easily outdistancing runners-up Berkeley Prep (83) and Indian Rocks Christian (82). View photos from the meet below.

Next up for the Tigers is the District Meet on April 25 at Braden River.
