Jesuit High School's stage performers continue to raise the bar in competition this fall.

The Jesuit Masque, led by theater director Richard Miller, participated in the District competition this past weekend, Oct. 5, at Gaither High School, competing in 18 total events. Jesuit thespians earned a school-record nine Superior ratings, as well as nine Excellent ratings. Riley Buchanan '20 earned Top Honors for his monologue performance, while Marino Matthews '20 was a Top Honors finalist for his set design.

The Superior ratings all qualified for the Florida State Thespians Festival from March 18-21 in downtown Tampa. They are:

·         Monologues – Nicholas Asher '21 for "Homeland Security" and "Macbeth"

·         Monologues – Buchanan for "Laughing Wild" and "Columbinus"

·         Monologues – Joseph Lopez '21 for "Awesome 80s Prom" and "Thirst"

·         Monologues – Matthew Starkey '20 for "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"

·         Duet Acting – Xander Arena '20 and Buchanan for "Glengarry Glen Ross"

·         Duet Acting – Jimmy Grammig '21 and Lopez for "True West"

·         Costume Design – Vincent Girgenti '20 for "Animal Farm"

·         Scene Design – Matthews for "Moon Over Buffalo"

·         Ensemble acting – Arena, Asher, Tyler Brownrigg '21, Buchanan, Colin Creadon '23, Grant Jurusz '22, Matthew Justin '22, Zion Malone '22, Charlie Mandt '20, Ian Mejia '20, George Meyers '20, Aaron Norris '22, Nico Smyth '21, Starkey, and Gio Taylor '20 for "The Front Page"

·         Duet Acting – Asher and Starkey for "The Odd Couple"

·         Duet Acting – Brownrigg and Symth for "Lend Me a Tenor"

·         Duet Acting – Mejia and Meyers for "The Sting"

·         Solo Musical – Justin for "Santa Fe" from "Newsies"

·         Solo Musical – Llanos for "Mister Cellophane" from "Chicago"

·         Solo Musical – Meyers for "Johanna" from "Sweeney Todd"

·         Costume Design – Vincent Girgenti '20 for "Animal Farm"

·         Costume Design – Frankie Cisneros '20 for "Winter's Tale" 

·         Scene Design – Girgenti for "American Idiot"
