Spring Break!

Spring Break!

The conclusion of the third semester on Friday (March 8) marked the beginning of Spring Break: Jesuit High School will have no school from March 11-15.

It also marked the final day of the school year in which Jesuit students are required to wear ties. Per tradition, it also meant the campus statue of St. Ignatius in the Student Commons was buried beneath a mountain of discarded ties from Jesuit juniors following the final bell on Friday. Aside from special events such as all-school Mass, the juniors will not wear ties for the remainder of this school year or for their senior year.

During Spring Break many Jesuit clubs and sports teams will be active. Robotics will compete in the Orlando Regional at the University of Central Florida's CFE Arena from March 14-16; wrestling finishes up the winter sports season Saturday (March 9) at Day 2 of the State Tournament in Kissimmee; track & field is at the Ed Wells Invitational at Clearwater High on Saturday (March 9) from 8:00am-4:00pm; and baseball and lacrosse have multiple games scheduled during the break.

School resumes on March 18, and the remainder of the school year is filled with events and activities, such as the Hillsborough County Special Olympics at Jesuit on April 6, and Celebration of the Arts at Jesuit on April 28. Please refer to the website School Calendar and the website Athletic Calendar.

See a photo slideshow below of students adorning the statue of St. Ignatius with their ties, and below that is a time-lapse video of the event.
