The Jesuit High School swimming and diving team is having another sensational season, with an undefeated record and consistently outstanding results.

The Tigers are coming off back-to-back seasons as State runners-up, and despite graduating several individual State Champions the past two years – Austin Sellers ’15, Byrne Litschgi ’16, and Tommy Shaffer ’16 – are excelling once again.

Thursday (Sept. 22), the Tigers defeated Robinson 125-51, improving to 4-0 on the season. The Tigers also have been impressive in wins over King (146-26), Plant (119-60), and Steinbrenner (129-44), with the closest result being a 59-point victory.

And at the Bobby Hicks Relays on Sept. 10, which featured more than 20 schools from Hillsborough County, the team finished 1st or 2nd in every event.

Several Jesuit swimmers have scored one or more victories at every meet this year, including Sam Sands ’18 (freestyle, butterfly), Brendan Driscoll ’19 (individual medley, freestyle), Diego Perez-Aracena ’18 (diving – Perez-Aracena is pictured on the homepage), and Tyler Carreja ’19 (butterfly, backstroke).

Other top performers have included Will Sands ’17 (freestyle), Chris Jennings ’18 (breaststroke, freestyle), Stephen Dawes ’17 (freestyle), and John Jansen ’18 (individual medley, backstroke).

Head coach Bill Shaffer is hoping to continue the team’s postseason excellence. Jesuit has won 19 consecutive District titles, 7 straight Region crowns, and came within a few points of its first State title in 2015.

Next up for the Tigers is a meet with Bloomingdale on Thursday (Sept. 29). The annual Spike ‘n Splash cancer fundraising meet is Oct. 5. Click here for the team schedule.
