Whidden, Darst, Holtz combine for 52 as Tigers advance to Region Semifinal
The senior trio of Christian Whidden (pictured on homepage, 19 points), Daniel Darst (18 points), and Chad Holtz (15) scored 52 of Jesuit’s 62 points as the Tigers defeated Lakewood 62-54 on Thursday (Feb. 12) in a 5A Region Quarterfinal game at the Tiger Palace.
Next up for Jesuit is a trip Tuesday (Feb. 17) to St. Petersburg to play Gibbs (19-8) in a Region Semifinal. Gibbs defeated Robinson in its Region Quarterfinal.
Thursday at the Tiger Palace, Lakewood whittled down a big Jesuit lead to five points on three occasions in the fourth quarter but could draw no closer.
Darst’s three 3-pointers in the second quarter helped Jesuit open a gap it would never relinquish. The Tigers improved to 23-6 this season and have won 13 of their last 14 games.
