Senior Day - Class of 2022!

Senior Day - Class of 2022!

Jesuit High School's soon-to-be-graduating Class of 2022 celebrated Senior Day on Friday (April 29)!

The day featured the traditional Jesuit Senior Day slate of events: a special Convocation with a farewell address delivered by the Student Council president William Butler '22, the class drone photo, the announcement of the Senior Notables winners (see below), special senior videos, and the 24th annual Senior-Alumni Luncheon, at which the 198 members of the Class of 2022 joined the Jesuit High School Alumni Association and Al Dato '60 was formally conferred as the 2021-22 Alumnus of the Year.

About 150 alumni, including several past winners of Jesuit's Alumnus of the Year Award, joined the Class of 2022 at Armature Works for the luncheon. The event was headlined by three speakers: the Alumnus of the Year, Dato, and two seniors. First was Adrian Cancio Rodriguez '22, who spoke about his transformative experience at Jesuit (Cancio Rodriguez was the recipient of the school's prestigious Faculty Memorial Growth Award earlier in the week), and Liam Conroy '22, who encouraged his classmates to make a pledge of support to the school as generations have done before them.

Among the previous Alumnus of the Year winners in attendance were Joe Capitano Sr. '56 (2012), Dr. Stephen Krist '69 (2013), Dr. Hector Vila '75 (2018), Ken Stephens '74 (2019), and Mark Donohue '71 (2020). (Click here for the program from the luncheon, which lists all 198 members of the Class of 2022.)

The day started with a farewell address from Butler to the entire student body in the Chapel of the Holy Cross, reflecting on the past four years at Jesuit with humor, grace, and gratitude. Next, the seniors walked over to Hyer Family Park, where a drone photo was snapped of the entire class standing in the shape of a '22 in the baseball outfield.

The class was treated to one final breakfast in the cafeteria before transitioning to the MPR. There, principal Mike Scicchitano '01 spoke to the students, reflecting on the lasting impact and memories of the Class of 2022. Butler announced the winners of the Senior Notables (see list below), and the seniors also viewed a special senior video, a compilation of moments from their final year on campus. Then they moved back into the chapel for Mass before departing for the Senior-Alumni Luncheon.

The seniors will no longer have classes at Jesuit, however they will take semester exams and AP exams over the next two weeks. Baccalaureate Mass is May 26 in the Chapel of the Holy Cross, and Graduation is May 27 at the Straz Center downtown.

See below the recipients of Senior Notables, with a photo slideshow from Senior Day and the Senior-Alumni Luncheon below that. Below the slideshow are videos of the luncheon presentations by Dato, Cancio Rodriguez, and Conroy.
