Senior Day - Class of 2021

Senior Day - Class of 2021

Jesuit High School’s soon-to-be-graduating Class of 2021 participated in the wide range of events of a traditional Senior Day on Friday (April 30). It featured a special Convocation with a farewell address delivered by the Student Council president Carlos Baldor '21, class photos, the announcement of the Senior Notables winners (see below), and the 24th annual Senior-Alumni Luncheon, at which the 187 members of the Class of 2021 joined the Jesuit High School Alumni Association.

About 100 alumni, including several past winners of Jesuit's Alumnus of the Year Award, joined this year’s seniors at Armature Works for the luncheon. The event was headlined by two keynote speakers: Chris Diaz ’85, who gave a heartfelt address on behalf of his father, 2020-21 Alumnus of the Year Leo Diaz ’59, and Ryan Feocco ’21, who spoke about his transformative experience at Jesuit and encouraged his classmates to make a pledge of support to the school. (Earlier in the day, Feocco had won a Senior Notable award for "Best All-Around.")

Among the previous Alumnus of the Year winners in attendance were Mark Donohue ’71 (2020), John Oliva Sr. ’60 (2017), Dr. Stephen Krist ’79 (2013), Lee Pallardy '69 (2016), and Richard Gonzmart ’71 (1999).

The day started with a farewell address from Baldor to the entire student body, which reflected on his past four years at the school and how he and his classmates have grown during their time at Jesuit. Next, the seniors took a class photo in front of the Chapel of the Holy Cross before walking over to Hyer Family Park, where a drone photo was snapped of the entire class standing in the shape of a ’21 in the baseball outfield.

The class was treated to one final breakfast in the cafeteria before transitioning to the MPR. There, principal Barry Neuburger and president Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J. both spoke to the students, reflecting on the lasting impact and memories of the Class of 2021. Baldor announced the winners of the Senior Notables (see list below), and the seniors also viewed a special video, a compilation of moments from their final year on campus. Then they moved back into the chapel for Mass before departing for the Senior-Alumni Luncheon.

The seniors will no longer have classes at Jesuit, however they will take semester exams and AP exams over the next two weeks. Baccalaureate Mass is May 26 in the Chapel of the Holy Cross, and Graduation is May 27 at Corral Memorial Stadium on campus.

See below for a photo slideshow from Senior Day and the Senior-Alumni Luncheon, videos of the luncheon presentations by Diaz and Feocco, and the list of Senior Notables.
