Senior Day '23

Senior Day '23

Jesuit High School's soon-to-be-graduating Class of 2023 celebrated Senior Day on Friday (April 28)!

The day featured the traditional Jesuit Senior Day slate of events: a special Convocation with a farewell address delivered by the Student Council president, Brian Kubiak ’23; the class drone photo; the announcement of the Senior Notables winners (see below); special senior videos; and the 25th annual Senior-Alumni Luncheon, at which the 191 members of the Class of 2023 joined the Jesuit High School Alumni Association and Joe Caballero ‘86 was formally conferred as Jesuit's 2022-23 Alumnus of the Year.

About 100 alumni, including several past winners of Jesuit's Alumnus of the Year Award, joined the Class of 2023 at Higgins Hall for the luncheon. Among the previous Alumnus of the Year winners in attendance at the luncheon were: John Oliva ’60, Lee Pallardy ’69, Richard Gonzmart ’71Dr. Hector Vila '75, Ken Stephens '74, and Mark Donohue '71.

The luncheon was headlined by two speakers: the Alumnus of the Year, Caballero, and Matthew Dolan ’23. Caballero gave an inspiring presentation about the role his Jesuit education has played in his life, and how it has motivated him to be a ‘Man for Others.’ Dolan spoke about his transformational experience at Jesuit, and the lifelong brotherhood he and his classmates have developed. He encouraged his classmates to make a pledge of support to the school like generations before them.

The day started with a farewell address from Kubiak to the entire student body in the Chapel of the Holy Cross, reflecting on the past four years at Jesuit with humor and gratitude. Next, the seniors walked over to Hyer Family Park, where a drone photo was taken of the entire class standing in the shape of a '23 in the baseball outfield.

The class was treated to one final breakfast in the cafeteria before transitioning to Shembekar Auditorium in the Antinori Center for the Arts. There, principal Mike Scicchitano '01 spoke to the students, reflecting on the lasting impact and memories of the Class of 2023. Kubiak announced the winners of the Senior Notables (see below), and the seniors also viewed a special senior video compilation of moments from their final year on campus. Then they moved back into the chapel for Mass before departing for the Senior-Alumni Luncheon, which was just down the road at Higgins Hall.

The seniors no longer have classes at Jesuit, however they will take semester exams and AP exams in May. Baccalaureate Mass is May 23 in the Chapel of the Holy Cross, and Graduation is May 24 at the Straz Center downtown.

Below are the Senior Notables, which includes a rare triple Notable recipient, Ayden Lee, as well as two double Notable recipients in Troy Bowles and Grant Creedican.
