Senior Day - Class of 2025

Senior Day - Class of 2025

Senior Day and the Senior-Alumni Luncheon were phenomenal on Friday (May 2)!

Student council president Colin Shembekar '25 began the day with the traditional presidential farewell address at Convocation, with a mixture of humorous and heartfelt reminiscing about the past four years at Jesuit that resonated with the 189 members of the Class of 2025.

The seniors then headed to the baseball field for the class drone photo in the shape of their graduating year, '25, and following breakfast they gathered for some special events in the Shembekar Auditorium, including a presentation about their four years at Jesuit by principal and interim president Mike Scicchitano '01, and a series of videos about their Jesuit experience, followed by Mass in the Chapel of the Holy Cross and the Senior-Alumni Luncheon at the Pepin Centre.

Among the many events during the morning was the announcement of the Senior Notables, as voted by their peers:

Best Athlete - Justin Thurman
Most Talented - Peter Serdiuk
Best Dressed - William Kinsey
Most School Spirit - Ryan Burriesci
Class Wit - Aiden Eriksen
Most Generous - Logan Hardin
Most Popular - Dutch Iavarone
Most Dependable - Colin Shembekar
Best Student - Oscar Olivera
Most Likely To Succeed - Colin Shembekar
Best All-Around - Logan Hardin

The day concluded with the Senior-Alumni Luncheon at the TPepin Hospitality Centre, where the 2024-25 Alumnus of the Year, the Hon. Ron Ficarrotta ’76, gave an inspiring keynote address. With family, friends, and several 1976 classmates in attendance, Ficarrotta, the former chief judge of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, spoke powerfully about the value and the responsibility of a Jesuit High School education. Joining the 189 seniors in attendance were some 100 alumni, including previous Alumnus of the Year recipients Lee Pallardy '69, Hector Vila ’75, Ken Stephens ’74, Mark Donohue ’71, and Brian Mooney ’81, as well as many alumni with sons in the senior class.

The final presentation came from senior Logan Hardin. Hardin, who a few hours earlier had been voted Most Generous and the Best All-Around in the Class of 2025, shared his extraordinary life journey and spoke about the brotherhood the senior class has developed, and he also encouraged his classmates to give back to the school. The Class of 2025 is no longer in the classroom daily at Jesuit, and the absence of the 189 seniors leaves a big hole inside the chapel at Convocation. But their Jesuit experience is far from finished: this week and next are AP Exams; the senior-loaded baseball team is battling though the playoffs and plays in the Region Final the week of May 5; and the 4x800 relay, which includes seniors Brody Thurston, Daniel Dewey, and Oscar Olivera '25, qualified for Friday's State Meet in Jacksonville. And of course the seniors will have Baccalaureate Mass on May 27 and Graduation on May 28.
