Saladino: Back-to-Back Champs

Saladino: Back-to-Back Champs

Thursday night (March 14) at the University of Tampa, playing before an overflow crowd against the downtown city skyline, Jesuit baseball captured the title in the prestigious Saladino Tournament with a historic 12-3 win over Jefferson.

The Tigers won a grueling five games over six days, outscoring the semifinal (Lennard) and final opponents by a combined 24-7 to earn the Saladino title in back-to-back seasons.

The win equaled several Saladino records, marks established over 43 years in the prestigious county-wide tournament. Jesuit became just the second school (Alonso 2007- 10) to win the title 3 times in 4 years, and Miguel Menendez tied the Saladino record for titles by a head coach with 4 (2017, '21, '23, '24), matching Alonso's Landy Faedo.

In the championship game win, Jack Clark '24, Noah Sheffield '24, Will Burke '24, Jacob Lozano '24, and Vincent DeCarlo '25 all had RBI hits, and DeCarlo behind the plate and Sheffield at second base made key plays in the field.

Clark '24 was named tournament MVP, and Kaden Waechter '26 finished off the game with 3 1/3 scoreless innings after a solid start from McCall Biemiller '24 (1 ER).
