Jesuit High School football affirmed its place among the elite programs in the state with an explosive 56-29 rout of Immokalee on Friday (Nov. 25) at Corral Memorial Stadium in the Region Final.

The Tigers claimed their second straight Region title and remained unbeaten this season at 12-0 behind a devastating rushing attack. The offensive line of Mike Swenson ’17, Anthony Seguiti ’18, Jake Moore ’17, Trey Ballehr ’18, and Bradley Haines ’18, along with tight ends Donte Phillips ’17 and Larry Hodges ’19, pounded the way for eight rushing touchdowns, including four by quarterback Danny Boon ’17, two by Malik Davis ’17, and two by Matthew Pittman ’19.

Jesuit, ranked No. 2 in Class 5A and winner of 25 of its past 26 games, will travel to face No. 1 Plantation American Heritage on Friday (Dec. 2). American Heritage defeated the 2015 State Champion, Orlando Bishop Moore, 20-7 on Friday in Orlando.

Friday at Jesuit, Davis was sensational. Playing only the first half as the Tigers raced to a 42-14 lead, unofficially Davis had 15 carries for 195 yards and the two TDs. That gives him 2,325 rushing yards on the season, 12 yards shy of his school record of 2,337 set last season, and 33 TDs this season and 83 in his career, extending his county records in both categories.

Davis also now has 6,885 career rushing yards, lifting him into 12th place all-time in state history according to floridapreprecords.com.

Kicker Camden Bauman ’17 was 8-for-8 on extra points and now has a state-best 73 on the season, along with 100 points, the most in the state among kickers.

The Jesuit defense, facing a talented Immokalee offense, allowed a long early TD pass and very little else, as Immokalee’s last two scores came after the running clock was instituted with a 35-point Jesuit lead. Dane Belton ’19 had a long interception return, Anthony Nelson ’18 and Dalton Garrett ’17 crashed the Immokalee backfield repeatedly, John Zielinski '17 had eight tackles, and Travell Harris '17 made big plays on offense, defense, and special teams.
