Region Champs!

The District champion Jesuit High School golf team added to its championship hardware Monday (Oct. 19), earning the Region title at the Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club in Largo. The Tigers overcame high winds at the Pinellas County course to claim a four-stroke victory over Sebring.

Freshman Connor Murphy ’19 won the individual Region title, firing a 2-over 74 despite the gusty conditions to top teammate and runner-up Sean Lanoue ’16 (78) by four strokes. Murphy consistently played his tee shots and irons relatively low, to minimize the impact of the wind.

In addition to Murphy and Lanoue, Jesuit took scores from three-time District champion Matt Ruel ’16 (83), and Matt Zloto ’17 (85).

The Tigers' team score of 320 edged Sebring’s 324. Both Jesuit and Sebring advanced from Class 2A-Region 6 to next week’s two-day State Tournament on Oct. 30-31 at the Mission Inn and Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills.
