Jesuit rolls to a 38-0 preseason win over Strawberry Crest

Jesuit High School scored four first-half touchdowns to dash to a big early lead on its way to a 38-0 preseason win over Strawberry Crest at Corral Memorial Stadium on Friday night (Aug. 21).

The Tigers received two first-half rushing touchdowns from Malik Davis ’17, from 20 and 5 yards, and two first-half passing touchdowns from quarterback Danny Boon ’17.

Bonn connected with Rey Riveros ’16 over the top of the defense from 25 yards to open the scoring, and late in the first half Nick Perillo ’16 made a 10-yard diving catch of a Boon toss to make it 31-0 at halftime. Brendan Gonzalez ’16 made all of the first-half extra points and a 41-yard field goal.

Kendrick Torain ’18 had the lone second-half score on an end-aournd

The swarming defense, led by end Zack Quilty ’16, linebackers Braden Gilby ’18 and Parker Looney ’16, and cornerback Travell Harris ’17 (pictured on the homepage making a long punt return), kept Strawberry Crest off the scoreboard. Depth was beneficial on the muggy, suffocating evening, as Jesuit repeatedly shuttled in extra linemen and linebackers.

The Tigers open the regular season Friday at Lakewood Ranch at 7:30pm. Last season Jesuit won 27-24 at Lakewood Ranch in overtime.
