"Fahrenheit 451" Ignites Audiences

The Jesuit Masque performed Ray Bradbury’s famed novel “Fahrenheit 451” from Thursday-Saturday (Nov. 18-20), with the four shows over three days receiving overwhelming acclaim from large audiences in the Multi-Purpose Room.

Led by director Richard Miller and energized by the enthusiastic crowds, the cast responded with a brilliant performance. “Fahrenheit 451” tells the story of “fireman” Guy Montag (played by Colin Creadon ’23) and his inner struggle. Montag becomes increasingly insecure about his job as a book burner working for Beatty (Matthew Justin ’22) in a futuristic dystopia (Fahrenheit 451 is the temperature at which paper ignites).

It’s not until he meets Clarisse (Maeve Miller of the Academy of the Holy Names), who is filled with strange ideas, that he realizes the gross restrictions on his right to think freely.

Below is a photo slideshow from the Masque’s Fall Production, “Fahrenheit 451,”  and the cast and crew are listed below that.
