Connar Lufkin '16 wins Tribune award and helps Jesuit advance to District Final

The Jesuit soccer team dominated the Region Semifinal on Wednesday (Jan. 21) against Jefferson, outshooting the Dragons 18-2.

But it wasn’t until Harrison Astorquiza ’16 scored late in the second-half that top-seeded Jesuit secured a 1-0 win to advance to Friday’s District title game at 7:00pm at Corral Memorial Stadium. The Tigers will face Bradenton Southeast (15-4), a 1-0 winner over Robinson. Jesuit (19-2-2) is gunning for its 27th District Title in the past 29 years.

Earlier Wednesday, midfielder Connar Lufkin ’16, whose strong performances have helped Jesuit win 17 of its last 19 matches, and who leads the team with 13 goals, was named the Athlete of the Week by the Tampa Tribune. Lufkin had two goals and two assists last week in three Jesuit wins.
