Men for Others Dinner 2025

Men for Others Dinner 2025

Several hundred Jesuit students and their fathers enjoyed a beautiful evening of fellowship, inspiration, reflection, and brotherhood at the 19th annual Men for Others Dinner on Sunday (April 6) at the TPepin Hospitality Centre.

The evening featured many great moments, including keynote speaker Commander Mike Orfini, a Jesuit-educated Navy SEAL, giving a powerful presentation; seniors Malachi Ortiz and L.J. Fishman sharing heartfelt tributes to their fathers, Luis Ortiz and Doug Fishman; the Dads' Club presenting the school with a record $750,000 check from parking proceeds for Raymond James Stadium events; and Col. Sean Corrigan (Ret.), P '24 being recognized as the recipient of the Dads' Club's highest honor, the Songy Award.

Orfini closed the event with his impactful address (click here to view the video.) A graduate of Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., Orfini has been a Navy SEAL since 2006 and is currently a SEAL Commander at MacDill AFB. He spoke about his experiences with SEAL Team 10 and SEAL Team 8, emphasizing the incredible value of grit, selflessness, and brotherhood. He related his SEAL code, "To protect each other against our country's enemies," to the Jesuit motto of being "Men for Others."

The more than 400 guests enjoyed a delicious dinner before Doug Fishman, who is the Dads' Club president for 2024-25, and the Dads' Club officers presented the largest check ever from the Dads’ Club to Jesuit's interim president, Mike Scicchitano: $750,000. The money, which goes toward Jesuit’s financial aid program, was raised by dozens of dedicated Dads’ Club members, under the direction of parking coordinator Joseph Gonzalez '89, P '27, throughout the course of the school year.

Fishman then presented the Dads’ Club’s highest honor, the Michael G. Songy “Men for Others” Award. Corrigan earned the Songy for his “generous service to the school community that most closely models the characteristics of a true ‘Man for Others.’” His years of dedication in assisting numerous Dads' Club events has continued on past his son's graduation. View below a listing of past Songy Award recipients.

The two student speakers, Ortiz and Fishman, provided moving testimonials to their respective fathers that resonated with all of the fathers and sons in attendance.
