Latin Honors


Jesuit’s Latin Club excelled in competition Saturday (Feb. 3) at the Regional Forum at Robinson High School.

Though several upperclassmen were on retreat and missed this competition, the club still had 16 participants and earned numerous awards for excellence. A total of 12 Tigers were recognized for placing in the top 5 in various events, with Jonah Tran ’22 and Trey George ’22 earning multiple honors.

Three Tigers earned four 1st Place medals, led by Tran who captured 1st Place in two categories, Grammar and Vocabulary. Also placing 1st were Jake Pratt ’20 in Greek Derivatives and George in History of the Empire II.

Earning 2nd Place medals were Ryan Finster ’22 in the Heptathlon II and Luke Turner ’23 in Creatives.

Placing 3rd were Carter French ’22 in Grammar Adv, Noah Tran ’20 in Greek Literature Adv, Adam Collins ’22 in the Pentathlon Adv, Brody Grissom ’22 in Mythology II, and John Paul Llanos ’22 in Reading Comprehension II.

Earning 5th place ribbons were Jonathen Taye ’22 in Customs II, Luke Lehman ’21 in Grammar Adv, and George in Grammar II.

“Despite the fact we didn’t have our full squad, the team turned in some really strong performances,” Latin Club moderator Nick Werner said.
