From Jesuit’s SADD Club co-moderator Lauren Maguire: The Jesuit SADD club is hosting a safe driving seminar, Drive with CARE, on January 28. This past summer, our SADD club officers attended the Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition Program. The program required our club to develop and implement a program at the school to improve student driving. Our officers responded by creating a parent and teen cooperative course on driving and distractions. We are targeting parents of young drivers, primarily of freshmen getting their learners permits and sophomores beginning to drive on their own.
The goal of SADD is to help make students aware of the consequences of their actions and hopefully prevent students from making poor choices. Last month, more than 40 members of the club attended the MADD Candlelight Remembrance Vigil in Temple Terrace, where they read the names and lit a candle in remembrance of a Tampa-area drunk driving victim whose family could not attend the service. Please join the SADD club on Thursday, January 28 to support safe driving at Drive with CARE.
