In leading Jesuit to a runner-up finish and the first state trophy for a boys swim team from Hillsborough County in 65 years, Sellers rewrote the history book: A gold medal, four silvers, three school records, and three All-American times.

Sellers captured the state championship in his specialty, the 100 breaststroke, winning the final by more than two seconds in 55.59. In the preliminary heat, Sellers clocked a stunning 54.90, coming within 0.18 of the state record.

In the 200 individual medley, Sellers placed second and also established a new PR (1:52.23) and school record.

In the 400 freestyle relay, Sellers teamed with Tommy Shaffer ’16, Byrne Litschgi ’16, and Sam Sands ’18 to place second again and set another school record (3:09.80, in the prelims).

In addition to setting new school records in the 100 breaststroke, 200 IM, and 400 free relay, all three events achieved All-American time standards.

Sellers teamed up again with Shaffer, Litschgi, and Sands in the 200 medley relay to placed second and earn another silver medal.

The fifth medal, and fourth silver, was for the team’s runner-up finish.

With his high school swimming season completed, Sellers indicated will take recruiting visits in the coming months to Florida, Florida State, and Indiana, and possibly two additional schools.
