Grand Reunion
Several hundred Jesuit High School alumni in class years ending in '3' and '8' came home to Himes Ave. last weekend for a wonderful Grand Reunion celebration.
The annual event started Friday evening (May 19) with an elegant reception on campus that brought together all of the classes – every 5 years from 1948 through 2018 – for an enjoyable evening of revelry and nostalgia. Alumni spanning generations renewed acquaintances and shared memories and life stories. The special bond between Jesuit alumni and their alma mater made for a memorable occasion for all. For the first time, the Friday reception featured an outdoor cigar lounge that figures to be a fixture at future Grand Reunion receptions.
The Class of 1948 was represented by Dan Brown '48 and Eric Fabian '48. Some 75 years after they graduated from Jesuit in downtown Tampa, before the school moved to its Himes Ave. location in West Tampa in 1956, Brown and Fabian returned to celebrate the Diamond Anniversary of their graduation.
On Saturday, the respective classes gathered away from campus at various locales in the Tampa Bay area. Sunday (May 21) brought everyone back to Jesuit for Mass with alumni and their families, followed by brunch. During Mass, 18 members of the Class 1973 were awarded golden diplomas.
SAVE THE DATE: Grand Reunion 2024 will celebrate classes ending in '4' and '9' with the Class of 1974 (50 years) receiving special recognition. It will take place May 31-June 2, 2024. Email alumni@jesuittampa.org for more information or to register.
