Grand Reunion 2022

Grand Reunion 2022

Several hundred Jesuit High School alumni in class years ending in '2' and '7' came home to Himes Ave. in May for a wonderful Grand Reunion celebration.

The annual event started Friday evening May 20 with an elegant reception on campus that brought together all of the classes – every 5 years from 1947 through 2017 – for an enjoyable evening of revelry and nostalgia. Alumni spanning generations renewed acquaintances and shared memories and life stories. The special bond between Jesuit alumni and their alma mater made for a memorable occasion for all.

The Class of 1947 was represented by Jess Yado '47, who attended with his son, Chris Yado '82. Jess graduated from Jesuit nearly 9 years before the school moved from downtown to West Tampa, and he brought with him a Jesuit High Battalion shirt patch. The Jesuit High School Battalion, which was formed from 1942-1945, served as Jesuit's principal contribution to the war effort during World War II.

On Saturday, the respective classes gathered away from campus at various locales in the Tampa Bay area. Sunday (May 22) brought everyone back to Jesuit for Mass with alumni and their families, followed by brunch. During Mass, members of the Class 1972 were awarded golden diplomas.

SAVE THE DATE: Grand Reunion 2023 will celebrate classes ending in '3' and '8' with the Class of 1973 (50 years) receiving special recognition. It will take place May 19-21, 2023. Email alumni@jesuittampa.org for more information or to register.
