Graduation

Jesuit High School graduated its Class of 2025 on Wednesday (May 28) as the school celebrated commencement exercises at the Straz Center in downtown Tampa.

The graduating class is comprised of 189 students, of which 163 received academic, athletic, or service scholarships (86%), and 139 received Florida Bright Futures Scholarships (74%), with a total scholarship value of more than $29.4 million.

One-hundred percent were accepted into college, with 165 colleges and universities accepting Jesuit students in 2025, including all of the most selective schools in Florida plus renowned institutions such as Boston College, Boston University, Chicago, Cornell, Emory, Georgetown, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Rice, Texas, the U.S. Military Academy (Army West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, Villanova, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The quartet of Valedictorians of the Class of 2025, who all have a 4.64 GPA, are: Keegan Clamp, Robby Dyer, Landen Lee, and Oscar Olivera. Clamp, who starred for Jesuit's nationally ranked soccer program, initially enrolled at Georgetown University but plans to take a gap year to play soccer and then will enroll at Bucknell University and play soccer for the Bison. Dyer will attend Florida State as a Presidential Scholar, Lee will attend the University of Notre Dame, and Olivera will attend the University of Florida as a National Merit Benacquisto Scholar.

Each year, four special awards are presented during commencement exercises to recognize outstanding members of the graduating class. The recipients of these awards are determined by a vote of the faculty, and they are commemorated on the 'Men for Others' monument on the Jesuit campus. The 2025 winners were announced during graduation by Scicchitano:

  • The Charles J. Lashley Award, for outstanding characteristics of leadership of the student body, the highest honor Jesuit High School confers upon a graduating senior:  Colin Shembekar
  • The Larion J. Elliot Award, for dedication and commitment to Christ and the Church through the example of his Christian Life:  Logan Hardin
  • The Pedro Arrupe Award, for excelling as a ‘Man for Others’ through distinguished achievement in community service:  Will Stanton
  • The Joseph P. Gavan Award, for outstanding generosity and dependability in service to the school community:  Dutch Iavarone

In keeping with one of Jesuit's earliest traditions, graduates wore the classic tuxedo at Graduation. The traditional cap and gown, per school custom, were worn Thursday night (May 27) at Baccalaureate Mass. A photo of each Jesuit graduate receiving his diploma from Fr. Angel Rivera-Fals, S.J. will be made available soon.
