Golden Alumnus

Golden Alumnus

Jesuit High School alumnus Anthony Allen '06 won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013, and Monday (Jan. 11) he returned to Jesuit to present school president Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J. with a special commemorative golden football from the NFL, as part of the 50th anniversary Super Bowl coming up in February.

The Super Bowl High School Honor Roll Program was established by the NFL to acknowledge schools and communities that have directly influenced Super Bowl history and impacted the game for the better. For every player or head coach who was on an active Super Bowl roster, their high school receives a golden football inscribed with their name.

Allen, a Georgia Tech graduate, currently is a running back in the Canadian Football League. He lives in south Florida and brought his family with him to Jesuit on Monday. Allen met up with several former teachers, including Jesuit music director Nina Wegmann (Allen was a drummer at Jesuit), a few current Tiger football players, as well as his position coach from his freshman year at Jesuit, Richard Gonzmart '71.
