Region champ Nick Mosco '17 is one of five Jesuit wrestlers competing at State

Jesuit High School advanced five wrestlers to the Class 2A State Tournament this weekend (March 13-14) at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, including two Region champions.

Adam Lewis ’16 (42-4) prevailed in the 145-pound class in last weekend’s Region Tournament at Brandon High School, and Nick Mosco ’17 (29-4) conquered the 220-pound class in what is generally considered Florida's toughest wrestling Region. Lewis and Mosco will have to compete against three other Region champions from around the state among the 16 wrestlers in their respective brackets this weekend.

Region runner-up Brian Buser ’16 (44-5, 170), who leads Jesuit in wins this season, won the District title two weeks ago and is aiming for a high finish at State.

R.C. Consuegra ’15 (29-6, 126), who placed third in the Region and also was third at State last year, could possibly earn a rematch with Brandon’s Frank Bruno (40-2) in a State semifinal, if they both win their first two matches. Bruno, an unbeaten state champion last year, defeated Consuegra in the Region semifinal.

Jarrett Roop ’17 (21-11, 113) placed fourth in the Region and faces a tough draw against a wrestler with a 46-2 record. Roop placed fourth at State last year at 106 pounds.

The 2A State Tournament begins Friday (March 13) and runs through Saturday (March 14). Jesuit was second in the State last year and placed fourth in last week's Region Tournament.
