The Jesuit High School speech and debate team competed against some of the best schools in the state on Saturday at the Florida Gulf Coast Catholic Forensics League event at Palm Harbor University High School.

Leading the way for Jesuit was the team of Michael Lee ’16 and Jackson Moffett ’16, who took second place in policy debate, and Alexander Fiore ’16, who claimed second place in his congressional house in Student Congress. Fiore also was the presiding officer.

The duo of Paul Consalvo ’16 and Evan Rabenold ’16 took fifth in duo interpretation, performing a piece from the movie “Good Will Hunting.”

Cullen Finley ’17, in his first competition in Lincoln Douglas debate, placed ninth. Andrew Hanna ’19 placed 17th and Hector Rizo ’17 18th in Lincoln Douglas debate.

Jesuit speech and debate will next compete Dec, 5 at East Bay High School. It is one of the two qualifiers for the National Speech and Debate Association national event.
