A total of 12 student-athletes in three sports from the Class of 2025, including nine baseball players, signed with the college of their choice Wednesday (Nov. 13) at a special early morning ceremony at Jesuit.
A large crowd of family, teammates, and friends filled the spacious Shembekar Auditorium in the Antinori Center for the Arts as the 12 signees took the stage and were introduced one-by-one to a round of applause by Jesuit's director of communications, Pete Young.
The assistant principal for mission, Jimmy Mitchell, and athletic director Terry Rupp '84 then addressed the signees, with Rupp encouraging them to be grateful for their opportunities, complete their senior year with excellence, and then take what they've learned at Jesuit with them to college, being leaders and living as 'Men for Others.'
The 12 seniors who signed Wednesday are:
BASEBALL
Reed Biemiller – Florida Gulf Coast
Nicholas Deakin – University of Chicago
Vincent DeCarlo – North Carolina State
Keane Hyer – University of Richmond
Colin Kenny – Limestone University
Jace Pask – Middle Georgia State College
Robby Santana – Florida Tech
Brody Smith – East Tennessee State
Ryan Thompson – Florida Gulf Coast
LACROSSE
Aiden Eriksen – Providence College
Rocco Ruffolo – Flagler College
SOCCER
Dutch Iavarone – Loyola Maryland
The nine baseball players give Jesuit nearly 60 baseball signees over the past eight seasons, with more likely to come from the Class of 2025 at subsequent signing ceremonies this school year. The nine have been part of great success for the program under head coach Miguel Menendez. In 2022, the Tigers captured the program's 6th State title with a record-setting run through the playoffs, and last season the Tigers closed with a 13-game winning streak to earn the program's 7th State title (equaling soccer for the most in Jesuit history) and 3rd under Menendez. DeCarlo will join pitcher Aden Knowles '24 in an N.C. State program that played in the College World Series last season. Deakin becomes the second recent Jesuit athlete to sign with the University of Chicago, joining football player Houston Weathers '23. And Thompson and Biemiller will join D.J. Pirela '24 in the FGCU baseball program.
Eriksen and Ruffolo have helped Jesuit lacrosse reach new heights, including back-to-back Region titles in 2022 and 2023. Eriksen has been a stalwart on defense for the Tigers since his freshman year and led Jesuit in takeaways in 2024 with 35. He will play for the same school, Providence, as Jesuit's first Division I lacrosse player, Evan Olsen '08.
Iavarone has been a starter since the beginning of his freshman year with Jesuit soccer, helping the Tigers to a 62-9-6 record in that 3-year span, including a State title game loss in OT last season. Iavarone led Jesuit to the Tampa Bay Invitational title last season and has accumulated 36 goals and 35 assists his first three years, leading the team in goals as a sophomore and in assists as a junior.
This is the first of several signing ceremonies at Jesuit this school year, typically occurring on the first day of the NCAA's fall signing period. The winter and spring signing ceremonies will take place in February and April, respectively, plus the football-only signing date on Dec. 20. Each year, some 25-30 Jesuit student-athletes sign Letters of Intent to participate in college athletics.
