Earth Day

Earth Day

Jesuit High School’s Environmental Club pitched in to help make the planet a little better Saturday (April 22) on Earth Day.

Club moderator Vindri Gajadhar (and her daughter, Nivet) and 10 club members took part in the Great American Cleanup, sponsored locally by Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, on Earth Day. For about three hours the Jesuit crew got to work cleaning up waste in Al Lopez Park, especially from drainage areas. They filled more than 60 giant garbage bags during the morning.

Representing the club were (L-R in the homepage photo): Tyler Stack ’20, Carter Cabassa ’20, J.P. Menendez ’19, Patrick Leone ’19, Nash Chillura ’19, T.J. Blackmon ’19, Matthew Farley ’19, Matthew Sullivan ’17, Anthony Ramirez ’18, and Brendan McDonald ’18.

After the final bell on most Friday afternoons, Environmental Club members collect all of the campus’ paper recycling. The club also participates in numerous other special events throughout the region each school year.
