District Crowns

Two Jesuit fall sports teams continued remarkable streaks of excellence in their respective District playoff competitions.

Jesuit golf, competing Monday (Oct. 28) in the District Tournament at Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club, captured its phenomenal 19th straight District title. The Tigers were led by a sensational round from Ethan Bauer ’25, who fired a 73, and Wyatt Smith ’28 shot a 79.

The Tigers will vie for a berth in the State Tournament at the Region Tournament on Tuesday (Nov. 5) at The Club at Eaglebrooke in Lakeland. A year ago, Jesuit captured the Region title in dramatic fashion with Drew Campbell '24 draining a curling eagle putt from the fringe on the final hole for a 1-stroke victory.

Jesuit swimming maintained an even longer streak of District dominance on Friday (Oct. 25) at the Academy of the Holy Names: 28 years. The Tigers defeated 10 other schools, outscoring runner-up Freedom, 588-340. Winners for Jesuit included Layton Jennings ’27 in the 500 free and the 200 freestyle relay of Trey Davis ’28, Fiero Tiozzo ’26, David Dieffenthaller ’27, and Henry Neely ’26.

The Tigers advanced 19 swimmers in 32 individual events, including all three relays and divers Jack Rozance '25 (2nd at District) and Max Miller '28 (3rd) to the Region Meet on Friday (Nov. 1) at North Shore Aquatic Complex in St. Petersburg.

Two other Jesuit fall sports are closing in on the playoffs. Football plays the annual rivalry game on Friday (Nov. 1) at TC at 7:30pm, and then closes the regular season on Thursday, Nov. 7 at Middleton, before opening the Region playoffs on Nov. 15.

Cross country, led by Lucas Rupp '26, is going for its third consecutive District title on Saturday (Nov. 2) at Brandon High School.
