Coastal Cleanup

Jesuit's Environmental Club once again productively participated in the annual Hillsborough River & Coastal Cleanup last weekend on the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
For several hours Saturday (Sept. 17) morning, the students and club moderator Vindri Gajadhar combed the coastline along the causeway that crosses Tampa Bay, accumulating mostly glass bottles, plastic bottles, and soda cans, with the total amount of garbage they collected weighing 830 pounds!
The Environmental Club has supported this event for many years. Formerly known as International Coastal Cleanup, it's an annual event where people come together to clean up their community throughout the United States and across the globe. This year in Hillsborough County, cleanup sites included the causeway, Alafia River, Little Manatee River, Lake Thonotosassa, and other waterways throughout the county.
