Jesuit High School’s fall sports teams are embarking on their biggest events of the season this week and striving for major championships.

Bowling, cross country, and golf all will compete at their respective State Tournaments over the next few days, while swimming will aim for its 8th consecutive Region title on Saturday, and the unbeaten football team closes its regular season Friday night with the annual rivalry game at Tampa Catholic.

BOWLING: Jesuit is among 28 finalists statewide competing for the State title on Wednesday-Thursday (Nov. 2-3) in Orlando. The Tigers are led by individual District runner-up Ethan Sutton ’18, who has a school-record 209.9 average this season, and Kollin Boje ’17 (201.4 avg.).

CROSS COUNTRY: John Robbins ’18 is capping off a sensational cross country season at the State Meet on Saturday (Nov. 5) in Tallahassee. Robbins, who won the individual District title, claimed Region runner-up honors last week in Estero out of more than 140 competitors.

GOLF: The District champion and Region runner-up Jesuit golf team will compete in the State Tournament on Tuesday-Wednesday (Nov. 1-2) at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills. The Tigers, who earned their 11th straight District title a few weeks ago, are gunning for a Top 5 result at State after placing 6th last year. District champion and Region runner-up Max White ’19 leads the Tigers, along with Matt Zloto ’17 and Kaiser Hartmann ’17.

SWIMMING: Jesuit captured its 20th consecutive District title on Saturday (Oct. 29), doubling the score of second-place Robinson, 652-327. The Tigers are taking aim at their 8th consecutive Region crown on Saturday (Nov. 5) at the Long Center in Clearwater. Sam Sands ’18 captured two individual District titles and was part of two relay titles as well.

FOOTBALL: Jesuit continued its unbeaten season Friday (Oct. 28) at Spoto with a 45-14 win. Quarterback Danny Boon ’17 tossed three touchdown passes, to Donte Phillips ’17, Larry Hodges ’19, and Travell Harris ’17, as the Tigers clinched the District title. This Friday ay 7:30pm at Tampa Catholic, Jesuit football will try for its 17th consecutive win over TC. The following week, on Friday Nov. 11, the Tigers will open the State playoffs at home vs. Gibbs in a Class 5A Region Quarterfinal game.
