Championship Celebration

Championship Celebration

Jesuit High School completed the opening days of the 2025-26 school year on Friday (Aug. 8) with Schola Brevis and a wrestling State Championship celebration - plus cake!

At the conclusion of Schola Brevis, the student body packed the Tiger Palace and the juggernaut Jesuit wrestling team, under head coach Sal Basile, received its 2025 State Duals championship rings and the championship banner in the rafters was unveiled. It is the fourth State crown for the Tigers under Basile since 2020.

After the ceremony, the student body departed the Tiger Palace to discover the Mothers' Club had prepared cake for everyone in the commons. Meanwhile, the wrestlers and their family members captured photos alongside the ever-growing wrestling monument outside of Faber Hall, which recently added another granite slab to mark the newest championship, before enjoying a reception in the MPR.

It was a fitting conclusion to a week of ramping up for the 2025-26 school year. At the beginning of the week, the faculty and administration completed their exhaustive preparations. Wednesday morning, all students came to campus by grade-level for an hour, for grade-level meetings and student portraits. That afternoon was the new faculty & staff retreat.

Thursday was Freshman Orientation, as the 209 members of the Class of 2029 experienced Convocation, their course schedule, and Mass. Friday brought everyone to Jesuit together for the first time for Schola Brevis, which culminated in the wrestling celebration, before full school days begin on Monday (Aug. 11).

This week (Aug. 11-15) is Welcome Week, as Jesuit's Student Council, led by student body president Robert Bogle '26, will coordinate unique games and friendly competition in the cafeteria during 4th and 5th period lunch each day.

Thursday (Aug. 14) morning is one of the biggest events at the start of each school year, Clubs Open House, during which some 50 Jesuit clubs will be on display in Oliva Courtyard and students will have the opportunity to sign up for the clubs of their choice.

Friday (Aug. 15) is the first all-school Mass, and that evening is the football preseason game at Sumner High School.

Jesuit has an exciting football schedule this season with seven Friday night home games and many special events planned. Mark your calendars to attend the home Jesuit football games on:
