Jesuit baseball is back in the State Tournament!
Monday night (May 13), the Tigers earned a thrilling victory to capture the Region title, their 5th Region crown in 7 seasons, defeating Parrish Community, 6-3. Before a standing-room-only crowd at Hyer Family Park, Jesuit scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th to break a 3-3 tie, with D.J. Pirela '24's bases-loaded lined single lifting the Tigers.
Kaden Waechter '26 was sensational in relief, pitching three scoreless innings and closing it out in the 7th.
Friday (May 17) at 10:00am at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, Jesuit (24-6) will face Wesley Chapel (20-10) in the State Semifinal. The 5A State Championship game is Saturday at 2:00pm. The Tigers are vying for their 3rd State title in the past 5 years (2019, 2022) under head coach Miguel Menendez.
Jesuit baseball has earned six State titles overall, in 1994, '97, '00, '14, '19, and '22. The Tigers have been led this season at the plate by Noah Sheffield '24 (team-highs .407 avg, 1.118 OPS, 28 RBI) and Pirela (.347 avg, team-high 30 runs), and four others are batting over .300: Jack Clark '24, Jacob Lozano '24, Will Burke '24, and Vincent DeCarlo '25.
On the mound, McCall Biemiller '24 (7-1, 2.35 ERA, 97K in 51 IP), Aden Knowles '24 (7-0, 1.92 ERA), Wilson Andersen (3-1, 2.70 ERA), and Waechter (3-1, 0.94 ERA) have paced the Tigers.
