Back to School - Schola Brevis

All students returned to campus today for Schola Brevis as Jesuit High School began the 2017-18 school year.

The entire student body of more than 780, including 214 freshmen in the Class of 2021, gathered in homeroom and then Convocation before going through the daily schedule of classes, which were abbreviated to allow for the traditional Schola Brevis dismissal at Noon.

Monday (Aug. 14) marks the first full day of classes and begins with a special celebration of Fr. Francis Brou, S.J., Jesuit’s school chaplain. Fr. Brou entered the Society of Jesus 70 years ago, on Aug. 14, 1947 as an 18-year old, and the school will host a ceremony in his honor at Convocation.

Next week also is Welcome Week. Throughout the week, the lunch periods will be filled with games and activities. Tuesday is the first all-school Mass (coat & tie required), Thursday is the Clubs Open House, and Friday is the preseason home football game vs. Gaither at 7:30pm.

2017-18 will be a landmark year in Jesuit history, as the new face of campus, the 32,000 square foot administration and Student Services building, is slated to be completed in December and open at the start of the second semester.

The heart of campus, the beautiful Chapel of the Holy Cross, will be completed in the spring.
