Jesuit High School matched its excellence on the athletic fields in 2015-16 with excellence in the classroom.
The Tigers placed 1st among all Class 5A boys athletic programs in the FHSAA’s Academic Team Champion (ATC) standings this past school year.
Strong results across Jesuit's 12 FHSAA sports programs, including a 1st place finish by the bowling team for the 3rd consecutive year and 4th time in 5 years, propelled the Tigers to the top spot with 73 points, ahead of runner-up Gainesville Eastside (43). The FHSAA’s ATC scoring system awards the school with the highest team GPA in its sport/classification with 10 points, 2nd place earns 9 points, 3rd place 8 points, and so on.
Faring exceptionally well in the classroom for Jesuit, each finishing 2nd in their respective sport/classification, were the football, swimming, wrestling, and track & field teams. Also, lacrosse placed 3rd, baseball and soccer earned 4th, and basketball finished 6th.
Bowling had the highest team GPA among Jesuit sports with a 3.761 cumulative average, followed by swimming (3.587), tennis (3.553), and cross country (3.531).
In addition to capturing the 5A Academic Team Champion title for boys athletic programs, Jesuit also excelled in the FHSAA’s All-Sports Award rankings for boys programs in 2015-16. Jesuit placed 1st in Class 5A and 1st among all Tampa Bay area schools, and 3rd among all schools in Florida, in the boys All-Sports Award standings.
