Jesuit soccer has a storied history, capturing six State titles - the most of any Jesuit sports program - since its founding as a club sport in the mid-1970s. By the mid-'80s, the Tigers were a force, winning State titles in 1987, '95, '97, '98, '99, and '01. The final five championships came under head coach Bob Bauman, and the 2001 team also was honored as National Champions. Eric Sims '95, who starred on the '95 champs, was named head coach in 2013. In 2015-16, Jesuit went 23-5-1, with a strong performance in the annual national tournament at Montverde Academy, and winning District and Region titles. The Tigers captured the Region at nemesis Merritt Island on an overtime goal by Noah Kurtz '18. At the State Tournament, Jesuit became the only team to hold a lead on unbeaten/untied, No. 2 nationally ranked Ponte Vedra all season before succumbing 3-2. Midfielder Connar Lufkin '16 was named Hillsborourgh County Player of the Year and an All-American. Since the 1984-85 season, more than 30 years ago, Jesuit has captured the District title in all but two seasons.

Jose A. Alvarez Award winners
Midfielder Connar Lufkin '16 was the 2016 recipient of the Jose A. Alvarez Award, given annually to the Hillsborough County Outstanding High School Soccer Player of the Year. It marked the seventh time in the award’s 32-year history that a Jesuit player won, and the fourth time in six years.
Coach Bob Bauman
Longtime Jesuit soccer coach Bob Bauman had one of the great coaching tenures in Florida prep sports history. Bauman led the Tigers to five of the school’s six state titles in soccer – 1995, ’97, ’98, ’99 and ’01 – and the national title in 2001. Jesuit also was state runner-up under Bauman in 1988, ’96 and ’00. He received numerous local, state and national coaching honors, including the National High School Athletic Coaches Association’s National Coach of the Year Award in 2006. In 26 seasons Bauman led Jesuit to 24 District titles, 15 State Tournament (final four) berths and a record of 571-124-69. An attorney with the Morris Law Firm of Tampa, Bauman resigned in 2013 to pursue a judicial position for Hillsborough Circuit Court, Group 34, to which Judge Bauman was elected in Nov. 2014. “Bob was a wonderful mentor to hundreds of Jesuit students," Jesuit athletic director Terry Rupp '84 said.
