Jesuit High School president Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J. celebrated a special Mass at Jesuit on Wednesday (May 17), during which Seth Cashen '18, Trent Gephart '19, and Caysen Waldron '19 were baptized, and T.J. Blackmon '19 and Colton Caruso '19 were received into full communion with the Catholic Church.

Each student was accompanied by his sponsor: Cashen by theology teacher Chris Ragusa, Waldron by Mike Sweet '16, Caruso by assistant director of campus ministry Ben Shoup, and Gephart and Blackmon both were sponsored by theology teacher Rania Saade.

Jesuit was given special permission to celebrate these sacraments from the Diocese of St. Petersburg, and from the pastor of the parish in which Jesuit is located, Fr. Michael Muir of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

Since 2010, a total of 28 students have received sacraments at Jesuit, including 10 who will be students at the school in 2017-18: Blackmon, Caruso, Cashen, Gephart, and Waldron, along with Charles Clark '18, Devin Flores '18,  Bradley Haines '18, Nicholas Haskell '19, and Connor Price '18.

Wednesday marked the final all-school Mass of the 2016-17 school year. View a photo slideshow below:

At Jesuit, we are responding in a dynamic way to the changing needs of education in the 21st century.
It is an exciting era, with the constant infusion of new technology and the increasing emphasis on student engagement in the learning process.
In 2014 Jesuit claimed the FHSAA's highest honor among all Class 5A schools in academics (Academic Team Champion) and athletics (All-Sports Award).
Each and every gift makes a difference to the students of Jesuit High School as they strive to become "Men for Others."
