School Dress Code

Students are expected to be well groomed and neatly dressed in accordance with good taste.  The school reserves the right to determine whether a student's dress and appearance satisfy the school's policy.

Hair:  Students are expected to have neatly groomed hair, which should not reach below the top of the shirt collar in the back, below the eyebrows in the front, or below mid-ear on the sides.

Facial Hair:  Sideburns may not reach below the bottom  of the ear and must be of uniform width. Students should be clean-shaven.

Shoes:  Students must wear dress shoes and visible socks. Shoes must remain laced and be in good condition. Athletic shoes, moccasins, slippers and sandals are not acceptable.

Trousers:  Neat, clean dress trousers must be properly worn to school. Denim, faded, frayed trousers, or pants with drawstrings or elastic waistbands are not acceptable. Cargo pants with large patch pockets are not acceptable.

Belts:  Belts must be worn with trousers that have belt loops. Underwear may not be visible above any pants, whether during the school day or a school activity, on or off campus.

Shirts:  All shirt tails must be worn inside the trousers. Hawaiian shirts, guayaberas, flannel and other casual shirts are not permitted.  Fall and Spring Shirts: During warmer months, from the start of school until mid-semester Fall, and also Mid-semester Spring to the end of school, ties are not required. Therefore students may wear either pull-over polo-style shirts wtih collars and buttons, or collared shirts that have buttons down the entire front.  Pullover shirts may not display any writing, logos or insignias other than that of the manufacturer or Jesuit High School. Winter Shirts: During cooler months between Mid-semester Fall through Mid-Semester Spring, students are required to wear ties with collared dress shirts that button down the entire front.

Dress Jacket:  On days when a school Mass is celebrated, usually once a month, all students must wear a suit or sport jacket with a dress shirt and tie.

Relaxed Dress Code for Special Occasions
Intramural Dress Days: Shorts, jeans or sweats, t-shirts and athletic shoes (no sandals) may be worn on Intramural Days or other designated special days. Socks are always required.

Spirit Dress Days: Spirit days are meant to raise school spirit or recognize athletic activities. Students may wear dress shorts or jeans and athletic shoes and socks, but only if a "Jesuit" shirt (that has the name of the school clearly evident) is worn.
