Why is the Development Office necessary?
Jesuit High School is a private, independent Catholic school. This means that Jesuit does not receive financial support from the Diocese of St. Petersburg, or the Catholic Church. Jesuit does not receive financial support from the Province of New Orleans (Jesuit Order), nor does it receive local or federal tax dollars. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Jesuit is entirely dependent on revenue from tuition and the generosity of its benefactors.
This truly independent status is why Jesuit’s Development Office is critical to the fiscal health of the school. Tuition alone does not cover all the costs.
The Development Office exists to help the school meet the gaps that tuition does not cover. The office works to “develop” strong financial supporters, the life-blood for the school’s future. It is through the generosity of Jesuit’s donors that the school is able to meet the ongoing challenges of increasing operational and facility maintenance costs. Ultimately, it is this generosity that will allow the school to continue its century-old legacy for many more generations of Jesuit students in the Tampa area.
